Halcyon 10watt HID
Light Heads
(Patents Pending) |
|

Halcyon
High Intensity Discharge (HID) systems have revolutionized dive
lighting. HID technology replaces the filament of the light bulb
with a capsule of gas for a brighter, white, long-burning beam.
Recreational and exploration divers are in agreement that the
10watt HID lamp is our best all-around performer. Always looking
to improve our product reliability and performance, Halcyon's
10watt HID light head now comes in two configurations-- with an
extremely compact fixed-beam MR11-style bulb or as fully focuasable
light with a standard 10w HID bulb. Sealed, focusable, and very
compact, Halcyon’s new 10watt HID light heads are as home
on a Caribbean reef dive as they are in the most demanding cave
or wreck dive.
Available for both
the Explorer and Proteus
lighting systems

Features
Given a blank slate to design a new light head, Halcyon decided
to incorporate several powerful features that make these new designs
extremely useful in a variety of environments.
- Fully enclosed designs:
The new light heads are fully enclosed in a small Delrin housing.
Stronger than steel, the Delrin head will be perfect for wreck
divers and others who require an extremely robust primary light.
Of course, the new light head retains the time-tested Goodman
handle.
- Fully focusable version:
The light head is fully focusable by turning the integrated knob
on the back of the light head. This unique and simple design allows
for quick focusing and eliminates the need for an external lock-down
screw. "Quick set" focus settings are laser-etched into
the Delrin light head to allow for quick visual reference. The
entire range of focus requires less than 1.5 revolutions.
- Field serviceable:
The new head is engineered to allow quick bulb changes without
the need for tools. The bulb plugs directly into the ballast to
promote positive ignition and bulb longevity.

Light signals can be an important means of communication
because they work in a variety of situations and are especially
effective in gaining a team member's attention. In dark surroundings,
individuals can easily communicate with their lights over large
distances. Even in close quarters light signals may be preferable,
especially if divers are not facing one another. Many open water
divers are starting to realize how lights can simplify communication
and enrich a dive. Divers frequently use light signals over hand
signals because they are:
-
Easy to see
- More
efficient to use
- Effective
at much greater distances
