Halcyon Explorer Pro 4

Explorer Pro 4 HIDAre you ready to join the HID lighting revolution? The Explorer Pro 4 was developed to take advantage of the amazing Extreme Exposure 10 watt HID light head. The Pro 4 leaves the competition to fade into the background. Our super-slim ballast is simply an extension of the Goodman light head. You don't notice a difference between the HID and a traditional halogen lamp-- until you turn on the power! With a center beam candlepower of 13,000 and a 6000K color temperature, the Pro 4's 10 watt HID lights up the water like a 50 watt halogen but with a radically extended burn time.

  • Medium-weight travel light with HID brilliance
  • Excellent choice for mid-range open water applications
  • Four-hour burn times allows for multiple dives on one charge

Explorer Pro 4The Pro 4 adds 2 lbs. of ballast to a diver's rig, making it primarily suitable for wet suit diving.

All Halcyon Extreme Exposure lights come standard with a host of valuable features, including: temperature resistant Delrin light heads; commercial-grade strain reliefs to reduce light cord stress; auto plug feature with gimble mechanism to facilitate easy battery connection and to prevent stress on battery connections; deep recess bottom plates to increase strength and support; inset bottom channels to prevent battery movement; superior quality rechargeable lead acid batteries; triple fold belt loop attachment; automatic shut off charger with charge light indicator.

The Explorer Pro's canister carries a lifetime warranty against breakage and maintains a material operating temperature of -100' F (-73'C). The amazing ability of the canister to resist shock is partly attributable to its slightly flexible nature. Destructive testing efforts included repeatedly dropping the canister from a height of 10' filled with 35lbs of weight, pounding on the canister with a 5 lb sledge hammer and driving over it with a car. All efforts to crack the canister or break off the bottom were completely unsuccessful. Hydrostatic testing to over 700' was entirely uneventful. Halcyon is proud to lead the way into a new age of underwater lighting.

DIR Tip 78
Technical diving is as much about having the right attitude as it is about carrying the right equipment. To have one without the other would lead one into dangerous waters.

There are many subtle encouragements to follow questionable diving practices; the apparent success of these practices can lull divers into a false sense of security. Furthermore, divers are resistant to changing commonly accepted practices, regardless of their actual track record.

Divers wishing to maximize their fun and safety while enabling maximum performance must carefully choose their mentors and their dive buddies. Common sense practices are sometimes anything but common.
