RB80 in Japan
GUE takes the
RB80 to Japan

Halcyon CEO Jarrod Jablonski recently visited Japan for ten days of travel including presentations to the general public, the military, and an array of local diving organizations. One of the highlights to this trip involved diving the RB 80 off Miyako Island, which is about 300 miles south of Okinawa.

Jarrod was as impressed by the generous hospitality of the Japanese people and the quality of the diving as his hosts were impressed by the performance of the Halcyon rebreather. Recreational divers and military personnel across Japan were amazed at the ease of operation and simplicity of set-up/breakdown possible with the RB80.

The new rebreather received rave reviews as a machine that could be used for world record diving activity while remaining so easy to use in shallow reef and deep ocean applications. Halcyon also sponsored rebreather discovery opportunities for local Japanese divers, some of who had never before seen a rebreather.

World Record Not Included

Halcyon 80 open waterDivers from the icy waters of the Antarctic to the caves of the Woodville Karst Plain rely on the Halcyon Rebreather operating system’s unique capacity for reliable, safe and intuitive rebreather diving. No other rebreather in the world is used as consistently and effectively as the Halcyon for deep wreck and deep, long cave exploration. Halcyon Rebreather runtimes are often in excess of six hours from the surface at depths of 300 feet.

Halcyon’s extremely intuitive and very reliable operating system eliminates the distractions that can mean the difference between a successful or failed mission. The simplicity that gives the Halcyon its advantage for exploration is just as important for less demanding environments-- don’t you want the same margin of safety on your dive as the explorer hundreds of feet deep on Trimix, miles from the daylight?

If Halcyon’s reputation rested on its safe operation, we can now add size, weight, and maneuverability to the list. Halcyon’s relentless pursuit of innovation has paid off with the Halcyon RB 80, incorporating all the unique and proven concepts of the Halcyon Rebreather in a package smaller than an aluminum 80 dive cylinder.

Starting with patented Halcyon technology, designer Reinhard Buchaly facilitated Halcyon's next revolution in rebreather technology. Working together on this revolutionary design the team expanded upon proven Halcyon technology in the creation of a novel unit sized at less than 1/3 of the original Halcyon while actually expanding scrubber size and adding a patent pending automatic water removal system.

DIR Tip 33
Over the course of roughly two decades and thousands of hours of long range exploratory dives, additions and further modifications assisted in the evolution of the system known as "Doing it Right," or simply DIR. The DIR equipment configuration is clean and streamlined with an emphasis on minimalism.

The DIR system is more than an equipment configuration, it is a diving style that ensures every aspect of each dive represents safety, efficiency and productivity. Diving requires a cohesive effort from early planning to safe operation and no part of this process can be deemed unimportant.
